Hi there
What a whirlwind of significant events these last few weeks have delivered! From major political shifts to global sporting celebrations and in case you missed it, REIP’s partnership with View Media announcement.
Let’s start with the global software glitch that occurred last Friday afternoon. It affected businesses, airports, government operations and individual users. It wasn’t a cyber-attack, but rather an upgrade that went wrong. It did make me question the vulnerabilities in our digital infrastructure and perhaps provided an ominous look into what could happen if this was done on purpose. The situation reminds me of the movie Leave the World Behind on Netflix.
Then, we all woke to the news on Monday that President Joe Biden would not be seeking re-election and that he was endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris. The Democrats are set to hold their convention in August and it seems that the party will also support Harris. Watching American politics play out provides a mix of emotions and it will be an interesting few months between now and November to say the least.
The upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics is predicted to be bold, original and unique and I’m excited to watch the opening ceremony. The planned parade of the athletes will be on the Seine River with boats for each country. Good luck to our Australian contingent competing over the coming weeks and hopefully bringing home many gold, silver and bronze medals. And of course, the Rugby 7’s will be starting this week – Go Fiji!
This week, we announced our new partnership with View Media Group (VMG). This multi year agreement is another relationship that takes us closer to strengthening our power as an industry.
In the last 2 years we have secured strategic partnerships with Propic, RateMyAgent, Property Mate, Settle Easy, Homes, Propps, ListOnce and REIA, and as of now, we have more than 90% of all listing data on the REIP platform.
The progress we’ve made in bringing together some of the most influential parties in the industry fills me with a real sense of excitement that we are well on our way to creating a powerful collective that will transform how we operate our businesses.
We will continue to provide all REIP members with free listings to all partner portals as part of our commitment to ensuring industry empowerment and success.
The reality is, we need to collaborate as an industry and, when we share, analyse and use our own industry data and products for our own purposes, we become better informed and more in control of the vital information that is the lifeblood of our businesses.
On a separate note, have you heard the latest REB podcast about anti-money laundering legislation?
Hannah Gill, deputy president of REIA talks about what this federal reform will mean for the industry (hint: more administration!), and her concerns that additional reporting requirements won’t solve the money laundering issue. You can listen to more here.
Until next time.
